since this is my first ALBUM / MIXTAPE / PROJECT REVIEW, let me tell you what criteria i’m judging by:
1. PRODUCTION – (ARRANGEMENT / SOUND-SELECTION / PRODUCER CHEMISTRY)
2: ENGINEERING – (EDITING / MIXING / SOUND-DESIGN)
3: ORIGINALITY – (PROJECT CONCEPT / CREATIVITY)
4: FINAL VERDICT – (CLASSIC or DELETE)
– – –
1. PRODUCTION: PROS – the cast of producers on this project is DIVERSE. it’s nice to go back to a spread instead of mainly B.S.B.D.
what’s FyLe’z #1 pick for PRODUCTION (beat / track) on this project?
track #2. produced by League of Starz…although it was nice to hear MACKNED and S.A.T. on this project. HONORABLE MENTION: Jake One’s “Life of Pi” track.
PRODUCTION: CONS – producer chemistry-wise: i don’t think that all of the producers were on the same page with this project. in other words, they all didn’t tell the THEME of the project in their own words….the soundtrack seems kinda thrown together.
2. ENGINEERING: PROS – i think that the engineering and mixing matches Nacho’s prior projects…it’s definitely in the same sonic territory…they kept the RMS average consistently around -9dB.
ENGINEERING: CONS – they kept the vocals pretty sterile. not too much creativity with delays, stutters, EQ, distortion, etc.
3. ORIGINALITY: PROS – Nacho is clever with his lyrics and wordplay. entertaining banter as usual. Nacho also never bites his tongue, so you can expect him to say exactly what’s on his mind without reservation.
ORIGINALITY: CONS – not much going on here in the name of substance. this isn’t a project that has a ‘positive’ ‘moral of the story’ overall.
definitely NOT Nacho’s best work. it’s nice to have a fresh 2014 release, but i’m looking forward to what else he has cooking besides this…not quite the CLASSIC…so:
