the rise of Macklemore (from a local BLACK perspective)

people want to know how it happened.

people want to know what the story is.

BLACK PEOPLE from Seattle have been EXTREMELY reluctant, quiet and hesitant to go ON THE RECORD about it.

…UNTIL NOW…

it STARTED with the Indian Holocaust which netted White people BILLIONS of acres of ‘freeland…followed by the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade which netted White people CENTURIES and GENERATIONS of ‘freelabor (each of which translating into the accumulation of White privilege that we see today on a daily basis). and to this very day, Native Americans and Blacks are still in crippled, decrepit conditions while Whites currently enjoy the spoils of murder and theft that they LOVE to routinely downplay.

“spoils like what?” you ask.

spoils like the average net wealth for White families being $100,000…for Black families? $5,000 – – – a sickening / unjustifiable 20:1 ratio – – –

spoils like the median yearly income of White households being $55,000…for Blacks households? $33,000.

spoils like 50% of White 18-24 year-olds being enrolled in college while there are more Black men in prison or jail, probation or parole than ever.

spoils like MORE THAN 75% of White families owning a home.

I COULD GO ON FOREVER.

anyways, my point is that Black people are only ROUGHLY 13% of the U.S. population…and with damn near ALL PRISONS being 50% Black (not by accident / coincidence) combined with the fact that White households ECONOMICALLY RUN CIRCLES around Black households, it becomes OBVIOUS that the White dollar can be considered a BALLOT – meaning that – White people SPENT (‘voted‘) Macklemore to the ‘top’ of HIP-HOP…White people SPENT (‘voted‘) Eminem to the ‘top’ of HIP-HOP…all while Black people didn’t have the MONEY or NUMBERS to fight back…Black people didn’t have the MONEY to permanently (or adequately) defend OR dictate the rules and regulations (OR who the #1 top-selling ‘artist’ is) of their culture.

(it started with White ‘grunge / alternative / rock’ bands in Seattle.)

local Black people (ESPECIALLY BLACK ARTISTS) know ALL TOO WELL about rock / grunge bands in Seattle. remember when the White rock / grunge bands were selling units, going on tour, selling out shows, and getting all kinds of ink by the press? and remember when you were getting all of the same things to a WAY LESSER DEGREE? well, there’s a reason for that. the same DOLLAR / DEMOGRAPHIC that was fueling the sails of ROCK & GRUNGE out here also fueled the sails of Macklemore and other White artists abroad…REGARDLESS of genre; but ESPECIALLY in HIP-HOP…and again, Black people are left holding the bucket wondering, ‘what the hell just happened?’ – but what happened is simple…it’s what has BEEN happening – White dollar domination.

so when you see mediocre artists like Macklemore with awards, ‘views’, ‘downloads’, WHATEVER…just know that WHITE PRIVILEGE and WHITE SUPREMACY fueled that.

White people LOVE to act like DISCRIMINATION and DISPARITIES are a thing of the past, and everything is (and has been) on an even playing field now.

…but if that was true and all things WERE in fact even, MACKLEMORE wouldn’t be the face of Seattle Hip-Hop…nor would he be considered a SUPERSTAR…

in closing, don’t let deceitful White people and ignorant, ‘YES MASSA’ Black people fool you into believing that White Hip-Hop ‘stars’ are ORGANIC, CONSCIOUS, or an honest EXPRESSION / REPRESENTATION of ‘REAL’ Hip-Hop or ‘REAL’ stardom.

…all what you are REALLY seeing is unison White supremacy / White privilege in action, defacing the original culture, changing the ‘rules’, and making a million and one justifications (and dollars) (and mockeries) on why it’s okay for them to set up shop and profit off of someone else’s genius and pain. [something i like to call White ‘justifiable’ cultural / societal gentrification]

so if you’re a Black artist and you’re wondering why and how White people are beating you at your own game, just look at the nature of the beast and do some simple math and some simple historical fact-finding, and you’ll have all of your answers.

in closing, BRACE YOURSELF for the new UNAPOLOGETICALLY White artist(s) that plays the VICTIM, ARBITER, and HERO while simultaneously & willfully CO-OPTING, DILUTING, and APPROPRIATING Black culture, ways, and mores under the guise of PROGRESS.

Macklemore’s words: “There’s so many people who are extremely talented that just don’t have the right resources behind them here in Seattle”

i guess he doesn’t know that BEING WHITE is the #1 resource…ask Eminem.

Whites have absolutely no intention of ever returning their ill-gotten gains to their victims, or even admitting they have committed any evil at all. Indeed, these are intrinsic, unalterable, programmed behaviors that have brought them near total success. Appealing to their sense of “fair play” is a pitifully useless enterprise—it can never bear (and has borne no) fruit at all.

    but it is not specifically for black people, i think that was your argument.

    well, it’s the same thing here.
    macklemore will do things with his message and his platform that help everybody, but it’s easy for you to argue that he doesn’t do anything specifically for blacks.
