KCJ

(seattle hip hop / rap “scene” in jail)

straight to the point.

Seattle got a lot of bullshit artists…

for starters:

we got artists out here that are wack and don’t even realize why they are not further ahead in the game…

we got groups of artists w/ mediocre music that are made to look like the “real deal” to fans out here that don’t even know how to differentiate a wack ass pg-13 act from a real one…

we got artists / groups that have large followings based on other factors besides their music…etc, etc…

and to top that off…THOSE SAME “QUESTIONABLE” ARTISTS ALL “SUPPORT” EACH OTHER (!!!)…a cluster-fuck of wackness if you will.

which amouts to: people wanna say “name names” ONLY SO THEY CAN DIRECTLY “DEFEND” THE WACK ARTIST / GROUP NAMED OR PASS ON THE INFORMATION TO SOMEBODY ELSE SO THAT THEY CAN “DEFEND” THE CALL OUT.

OR…

the “artists” and / or their “buddies” insinuate that “oh, YOU ARE JUST MAD BECAUSE YOU AREN’T IN OUR CLUSTER-FUCK AND YOU WANNA BE IN IT” – type shit…

the problem w/ this city’s “scene” is that it lacks  a QUALITY quality-control system…

people find “success” out here NOT BASED ON HOW GOOD THEIR MUSIC IS, but based on who will DEFEND THEM when their “art” gets called out by a critic.

so what does all this amount to?

a wack-ass buddy buddy system that thinks that everybody that don’t cosign their system of bullshit is just a jealous, envious, hater…real clever.

i for one actually feel sorry for the “scene” out here mainly because the founding principles of it are fucked up…and there are A LOT of people that are in denial about it…

    for real.
    it’s about momentum.

dope photo on this one. almost terry gilliam.

    • i’m not the photographer of that particular photo.

momentum? naw…not quite – it’s more about POLITICS, “NUMBERS” (demographics), and HYPE.

      • hype is the intangible.
        the x factor.

if i may ask one more question.
you can choose whether or not to answer.

do you have any specific goals related to your music?
        best case scenarios?

      • specific goals? best case scenario?

i just want people to know that being yourself, being multi-dimensional, and being an innovator are a few of the qualities that great men are made of.

  2. glad you enjoyed the ktao broadcast, and thanks for your comments.
hard to believe that was nine years ago.
i recently uploaded those segments for dj ender’s girlfriend whitney who now lives in seattle.
he was a dear friend of mine.
ender (simon) died a year ago from a congenital heart failure.
he was still in his thirties, young and healthy.
he and i used to live in taos together with a bunch of other incredible people.
i didn’t keep a copy of his mix that day,
i gave him the disc right as he finished the ninety minutes of d and b plus some techstep punishment.
    he is truly my inspiration.
if you want to hear part four it is on podomatic:

      i’m sorry to hear that.

sometimes i think that’s how i’m gonna go out (heart issues) – but ya never really know –
